NJ Man Sentenced to 10 Years for Meth Distribution, Firearms Possession

A Glassboro man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing thousands of methamphetamine pills with the intent to distribute and unlawfully possessing firearms, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Justice.  AdFederal officials said George W. Joyce, 40, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn in Camden federal court after previously pleading guilty to charges of possessing with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and possession of a firearm as a felon.  

Court documents and testimony revealed that on March 29, 2023, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Joyce’s residence in Glassboro. 

During the search, officers discovered approximately 2,587 methamphetamine pills in Joyce’s bedroom, which he admitted were intended for distribution.

Additionally, officers recovered two loaded firearms from the same room. As a convicted felon, Joyce was prohibited from owning or possessing firearms.  

In addition to the 120-month prison sentence, Judge O’Hearn imposed four years of supervised release.  

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger highlighted the severity of the crimes in his announcement, underscoring the dangers posed by the combination of drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.AdThis case serves as part of a broader effort by law enforcement to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs and firearms in the community.
