A 34-year-old man was fatally shot late Sunday night in Jersey City, prompting an ongoing investigation by law enforcement.
According to a statement released by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the incident occurred on Fairview Avenue between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and West Side Avenue.
Jersey City Police were alerted to the shooting shortly after 11:20 p.m. on December 8, 2024.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim, identified as Dushawn Bell of Elizabeth, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Bell was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Monday, December 9.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office is determining the official cause and manner of death.
Meanwhile, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
No arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward by contacting the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office at 201-915-1345.
This incident marks another tragedy in a Jersey City as investigators work to determine what led to the fatal encounter.
