Irvington Woman Fatally Stabbed in Gruesome Domestic Attack

NJ, a horrific act of domestic violence unfolded in Irvington Township early Sunday morning, leaving a 32-year-old woman dead and her boyfriend charged with murder, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office confirmed.

Police were called to an apartment at 101 21st Street around 3 a.m. following reports of an injured woman.AdUpon arrival, officers and first responders discovered Ms. Shanniiya Major, 32, unresponsive with multiple stab wounds.

Despite being rushed to University Hospital in Newark, she succumbed to her injuries, officials said.

Sources close to the investigation told RLS Media the attack began inside the second-floor apartment where Major was believed to be asleep at the start of the incident.

Her boyfriend, Mr. Denzel Dozier, 33, allegedly launched a violent assault, stabbing her multiple times.

The violence reportedly continued as the pair moved outside to the sidewalk, where Dozier is accused of physically assaulting and stabbing her again in a fit of rage.

Sources described the brutality of the attack, noting that Dozier fled the scene barefoot after the assault.

He was apprehended by police several blocks away shortly thereafter.

Authorities have charged Dozier with first-degree murder and weapons offenses. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that the investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.AdThis tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the Irvington and Newark community, shedding light on the devastating consequences of domestic violence.

Major was born and raised on South 19th Street in Newark. Residents in that community,  who are familiar with the family, told RLS Media that they are saddened by Major’s untimely death. 

Officials are urging anyone with additional information about the case to contact authorities as they continue their inquiry.
