Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a slightly warmer morning than yesterday, but dry conditions won’t last long as rain moves into the area this afternoon. The National Weather Service forecasts rain beginning after 11 a.m., with temperatures reaching a high near 50 degrees.
The precipitation will be accompanied by an east wind of 3 to 8 mph, and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch are expected.
Tonight, NWS forecasters say the rain will taper off, with a 40% chance of showers remaining before 10 p.m.
Patchy fog may develop after 4 a.m., and skies will remain mostly cloudy with a low of around 43 degrees.
If you’re heading out today, be sure to grab an umbrella and plan for a damp afternoon.
