After several days of freezing temperatures, Newark residents are waking up to a chilly but more bearable morning as a warming trend begins to take hold.At 6 a.m., the city is sitting at 40 degrees, a noticeable improvement from previous mornings.
While skies are cloudy to start the day, the National Weather Service predicts gradual clearing by the afternoon, with temperatures climbing to a high near 54 degrees.
West winds of 14 to 18 mph will add a slight chill, but the milder weather offers a welcome reprieve.
If you’re heading out early to your house of worship or taking the dog for a morning walk, it will feel more comfortable than in recent days, though a light jacket is still advisable.
Tonight, expect mostly clear skies with lows dipping to around 36 degrees, keeping the crisp winter air in play.
