NJ Transit officials are investigating the cause of a train strike that claimed the life of a man in Monmouth County Wednesday morning.
According to a statement released by NJ Transit, the incident happened at approximately 7:25 a.m., when NJ Transit train number 3224 on the North Jersey Coast line departed Long Branch at 7:10 a.m.The train was scheduled scheduled to arrive in New York Penn Station at 8:41 a.m., before it struck and fatally injured adult male pedestrian at the Normandy Road Bridge in Middletown.
The incident caused some temporary delays for commuters officials said.
There were no reported injuries to the 120 customers and crew on board. New Jersey Transit police are leading the investigation.
