Frigid Start to Wednesday in Newark as Evening Snow, Rain Loom

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

My family and friends in Newark are waking up to freezing temperatures this Wednesday morning, with the mercury hovering at 32 degrees.SupportAcross New Jersey, it feels like early January, with Sussex and Morris counties reporting even colder conditions in the teens.

While skies are clear this morning, forecasters predict increasing cloud cover as the day progresses, with precipitation and strong winds arriving by evening.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach near 42 degrees, though wind chill values will make it feel between 25 and 35 degrees. A southwest wind at 5 to 10 mph will add to the chill.

Tonight, forecasters say snow is expected before 11 p.m., transitioning into rain as temperatures hold steady around 39 degrees. There is an 80% chance of precipitation, marking the arrival of wintry weather for much of the region.

Bundle up and stay warm, New Jersey, as this frosty day could lead to a potentially messy evening commute.
