Armed Robbery in Newark’s Ironbound Section Under Investigation

Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two male suspects involved in an armed robbery that took place early Monday morning, November 11, according to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr.  supportThe incident occurred around 6:46 a.m. near McWhorter and Hamilton Streets.

Police reported that one of the suspects, dressed in tan pants, exited a stolen red 2017 Hyundai Sonata, approached a male victim, and demanded his belongings at gunpoint.  

Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. said the stolen vehicle, which police have since recovered, is also believed to have been involved in another robbery on New Jersey Railroad Avenue near Green Street around the same time that morning.  

Director Miranda is urging anyone who recognizes the suspects or has information about their identities to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).

Tips can remain anonymous, and information leading to arrests may result in a reward.  

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible.
