Bloomfield police are continuing their investigation into a series of shoplifting incidents in the township and surrounding areas after arresting a man suspected of involvement in multiple thefts. On November 12, 2024, officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at the Marshall’s store located at 8-12 Franklin Street.
According to a statement from store security, a man, later identified as 47-year-old Mr. Tamir Rivera of Newark, concealed men’s clothing valued at $147.86 in a bag and attempted to leave without paying.
A Loss Prevention Officer stopped Rivera at the store’s exit, and responding officers arrested him.
Rivera was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed.
Authorities believe Rivera may be linked to additional shoplifting incidents in Bloomfield and nearby areas.The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the extent of his involvement in other cases.
