A pedestrian was critically injured Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Clifton, police said.Emergency responders rushed to the intersection of East Clifton Avenue and Lexington Avenue just before 6 p.m. following reports of an injured person.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the ground with severe ankle injuries.
The injuries, described as massive trauma to one ankle, could potentially require amputation, according to authorities.
The pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
The circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. Officials have not yet released the pedestrian or driver's identity.
