In Newark's South Ward, two individuals were injured in an overnight shooting incident on Clinton Avenue.Police responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 12:17 a.m., where they discovered multiple shell casings, including some inside a chicken shack and one that had struck a nearby car.
Upon securing the scene, officers found two victims with non-life-threatening injuries; one had suffered from a graze wound.
During the investigation, police began pursuing a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident and noted that it bore several bullet holes.
The driver led officers on a brief chase before evading capture.
The Newark Shooting Response Team was called to assist in the investigation, which remains ongoing.
