Authorities in Passaic County announced that based upon an investigation by the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department Shooting Investigation Unit, Jose Ortiz, 31 years old, and Yesenia Adorno, both from Paterson, were arrested on November 4, in connection to the shooting that took place on November 4, in the area of North Main Street and Arch Street, Paterson.Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes stated that Mr. Ortiz is charged with Attempted Murder, first-degree, Unlawful Possession of Weapon, degree, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, degree, Possession of a Firearm Without a Serial Number, third-degree, and Possession of High Capacity Magazine, fourth degree.
Ms. Adorno is charged with Attempted Murder, first-degree, officials say.
According to Passaic County officials, at approximately 8:33 a.m. on November 4, members of the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of North Main Street and Arch Street on a report of a shooting.
Police were able to locate a 46-year-old male victim from Paterson, suffering from a non-fatal gunshot wound, Passaic County officials stated.
Passaic County authorities said the victim was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment, and police were able to locate a potential crime scene.
The subsequent investigation revealed that Mr. Ortiz and Ms. Adorno were responsible for the shooting, Prosecturo Valdes stated.
Officials said that on November 4, at approximately 10:15 a.m., Mr. Oritz and Ms. Adorno were arrested by the Paterson Police Department, without incident, in the area of North Street and Clinton Street in Paterson.
Paterson Police said these investigations remain active and ongoing. More information will be released once it becomes available.
