Newark Police responded to a shots-fired incident early Friday morning in the city’s South Ward.The incident occurred around 1:35 a.m. when a ShotSpotter device alerted authorities to gunfire near 196 West Runyon Street.
Several officers arrived on the scene and secured the area, discovering multiple shell casings. Following a thorough search, no injuries were reported.
The suspect involved had fled the scene and remains at large.
While police continue to investigate, no motive for the shooting has been released.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to gather further details.
