Two individuals sustained non-fatal injuries following a shooting in Newark’s South Ward early Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. near 471 Clinton Avenue, where a ShotSpotter device alerted police headquarters to gunfire in the area.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim with a gunshot wound, who was promptly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment.
As police searched the area for additional evidence and potential victims, hospital officials informed them that a second individual had arrived at the emergency department by private vehicle, also suffering from gunshot wounds.
The motive behind the shooting is currently under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
