Rutgers University ‘Affiliate’ Robbed on NJ Transit Bus in Newark

The Newark Police Department is investigating a reported robbery that took place on Monday, October 28, around 2:39 p.m., on a NJ Transit bus at the intersection of Broad Street and Bridge Street in Newark, New Jersey.AdThe victim, only described as being affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that a man displayed a weapon and demanded personal property, according to Rutgers University Chief Carmelo Huertas Jr.

After a brief struggle, the suspect left the bus and fled north on Broad Street toward Lackawanna Station.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the victim’s property was not taken.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male between 30 and 40 years old, with facial hair, wearing a black sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and a black watch cap, and carrying a black duffel bag.AdAnyone with information or who was in the area at the time is urged to contact the Newark Police Department at 973-733-6000.
