Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Friday, October 25, Rashaun Williams, 39, from Atlantic City, pleaded guilty before the Honorable Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant, J.S.C. to third-degree Aggravated Assault and fourth-degree Certain Persons not to Possess Weapons.
The negotiated guilty plea calls for a recommended sentence of five years in New Jersey State Prison and no contact with the victim of the Aggravated Assault, County officials stated.
According to Atlantic County officials, on August 13, Atlantic City Police officers responded to a convenience store on Atlantic Avenue in reference to a stabbing.
Upon arrival, officials say, officers located the victim, who was taken to the hospital for apparent stab wounds to his arm, stomach, and leg.
Williams was later apprehended by police, still in possession of the pocketknife he used to stab the victim, Atlantic City authorities said.
Atlantic City Police say the assault was captured on surveillance video provided by the convenience store.
Williams is scheduled to be sentenced on January 3, 2025, officials said.
