Police in Newark are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that caused property damage in the South Ward on Monday evening.
According to authorities, a ShotSpotter device activated near 139 Dayton Street around 5:40 p.m., alerting officers to the gunfire.When units arrived at the scene, they discovered shell casings and found that bullets had struck a house.
Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured. The shooter fled the scene and remains at large.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation, and Newark police are continuing their search for the suspect.
