Police in Newark are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting in the city's South Ward on Thursday.
According to a preliminary investigation, a ShotSpotter device activated around 4:10 p.m., alerting officers to gunfire near 580 Hunterdon Street.
When officers arrived, they taped off the area after discovering several shell casings and a vehicle that bullets had struck.Fortunately, no one was inside the car during the shooting, and no injuries were reported.
Police believe the shots were fired from a white vehicle occupied by several individuals, who fled the scene after the incident.
The investigation remains active as authorities search for those responsible.
