Somerset County officials are pleased to announce the launch of the Special Needs Registry, which will be conducted in partnership with the OPS Network and is part of the National Special Needs Registry.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, the Somerset County Special Needs Registry has been implemented to ensure that all residents with special needs receive the help and support they need during an emergency or during an interaction with law enforcement.
The Special Needs Registry is a voluntary service open to all citizens and was created to help police officers better assist residents with special needs, officials say.
County officials stated that in the event of an emergency or law enforcement interaction, they would provide police with vital information such as details about each registrant’s disability, emergency contact information, a physical description, and a current photograph of the registrant.
