A Jersey City man, Jamil King, was sentenced today to 225 months (18 years and 9 months) in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.King, 32, was convicted following a two-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas, who handed down the sentence in Newark federal court.
According to court documents and evidence presented during the trial, King is a high-ranking member of the Jersey City street gang known as Parkside.
On July 8, 2022, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at King’s residence.
Upon arrival, King attempted to flee, but officers recovered approximately 50 grams of cocaine from a pair of sweatpants inside the apartment.DNA evidence linked King to the sweatpants, which matched the sweatshirt he was wearing that evening.
In addition to his prison sentence, King was also sentenced to three years of supervised release following his incarceration.
