Suspect Wanted for Robbing Man While He Sat Inside Vehicle in Newark

Newark Police are searching for a man in connection with a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, October 16.AdPublic Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reported that the robbery took place at approximately 6:25 p.m. while the victim was sitting inside his parked vehicle in the 400 block of Washington Street.

According to police, a male suspect opened the car’s passenger door and stole two cell phones and the victim’s wallet before fleeing on foot, heading northbound on Washington Street.

Detectives have described the suspect as approximately 5’9” tall with a slim build, medium brown complexion, and facial hair, possibly a goatee or full beard.

He was wearing shoulder-length braids, a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray Puma sweatpants with white stripes, black and white Nike high-top sneakers, and a blue jacket with yellow detailing around the neck, wrists, and waist.AdThe jacket also featured yellow lettering on the chest.
