Newark Police Seek Two Persons of Interest in October Robbery

Newark authorities are searching for two men involved in a robbery that took place on October 8, 2024, near South 10th Street and 14th Avenue.AdNewark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé reported that the incident occurred around midnight, shortly after two victims left a convenience store in the area.

The suspects approached the victims, demanding money. One of the suspects, armed with a weapon, struck one of the victims in the face and head.

Despite the assault, the victim did not hand over any money.

The suspects then fled westbound on 14th Avenue.

When the suspects reached the 200 block of 14th Avenue, the armed individual fired the handgun, which was detected by the city's ShotSpotter system.

Responding officers located a 9mm shell casing at the scene and were approached by the victims, who reported the robbery.AdThe first suspect was wearing all dark clothing and a black mask, while the second suspect was described as wearing a red sweater and a blue mask.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the two persons of interest.
