Authorities in Elizabeth are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred on Tuesday night, leaving an alleged robbery suspect dead.
An earlier report posted on our board incorrectly indicated that the incident involved gunfire due to police evidence markings that appeared to be from shell casings.
This has since been corrected, confirming the markings were from the stabbing scene.
The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. near the Metro PCS store on Elizabeth Avenue.
The suspect allegedly attempted to rob the business but was stabbed during the confrontation.
Despite fleeing the scene, the injured suspect collapsed a short distance away and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
