In a major food safety alert, BrucePac, a Durant, Oklahoma-based company, is recalling approximately 11.7 million pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with *Listeria monocytogenes*, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).GenceptzThe recall impacts products sold nationwide to establishments such as Trader Joe’s, 7-Eleven, and other distributors, which then distributed the products to restaurants, schools, and institutions.

The affected products were produced between May 31, 2024, and October 8, 2024. They bear establishment numbers "51205 or P-51205" within or beneath the USDA mark of inspection.

Details about specific product labels and the full list of items involved in the recall will be provided when available.

The issue was discovered through routine FSIS product testing, which detected *Listeria monocytogenes* in ready-to-eat poultry products produced by BrucePac. Further investigation identified BrucePac's RTE chicken as the source of contamination, according to the FSIS statement.

While no confirmed cases of illness have been linked to the recalled products so far, consumers are urged to remain vigilant.

*Listeria monocytogenes* can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that predominantly affects older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

Anyone experiencing symptoms or concerns should seek medical attention.

The USDA advises consumers to check their purchases and follow updates as the recall unfolds to ensure their safety.Genceptz
