A series of four shootings across Newark on Sunday has left two people injured, prompting police to search for suspects involved in the violent incidents.
The first shooting occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. near Park Avenue and North 6th Street.
Officers responding to reports of gunfire found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was transported to University Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.
Shortly before 1 a.m., a ShotSpotter device alerted police to another shooting in the South Ward near 525 Clinton Avenue. Officers arrived to find shell casings in the area but were unable to locate any victims.
No arrests have been made in connection with this shooting.
Later, just before 1 p.m., gunfire erupted near the intersection of Astor Street and Clinton Avenue. Responding officers found a male victim near an AutoZone, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
He was rushed to University Hospital, where he remains in serious condition. The suspect fled the scene and has not been apprehended.
The final shooting of the day took place in Newark’s Fairmount section at approximately 7:27 p.m. when an armed suspect fired more than a dozen rounds at a male victim near 188 South 6th Street.
The victim was struck in the torso and transported to University Hospital in serious condition.
Stray bullets from the shooting also damaged a nearby vehicle, though no additional injuries were reported.
Newark Police are actively investigating all four incidents, and no arrests have been made at this time. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
