Two individuals were hospitalized after being struck by gunfire in a Plainfield community on Thursday night.
The incident occurred on West 5th Street, where police were dispatched following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers secured the scene and taped off the area after locating two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Both individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment.
As police combed the area for additional victims and gathered evidence, they continued to investigate the motive behind the shooting.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the incident remains under an active and ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not released further details.
