Newark Starts Thursday Cold But Dry While Hurricane Milton Leaves Trail of Damage in Florida

Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a chilly 51 degrees at 4:30 a.m. this morning as meteorologists track Hurricane Milton, which has made landfall in Florida, leaving a path of excessive rain and damage, particularly in the Tampa Bay area.

Emergency crews in Florida are waiting for daylight to assess the full extent of the storm’s impact.

As Milton moves across the state, it has been downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane, continuing to produce heavy rainfall and strong winds as it moves through Central Florida, including the Orlando area and Disney World region.

Meanwhile, in Newark, residents can expect sunny skies today, with a high near 62 degrees and a northwest wind of 9 to 13 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
