Union County Rallies for 7th Annual ‘Race 4 The Children’ to Support Young Abuse Victims

The Friends of the Child Advocacy Center of Union County is hosting the 7th Annual Race 4 The Children on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. in Warinanco Park.AdThis event, featuring a 5-kilometer run and a 2-mile walk, aims to bring the community together to support a vital cause: providing care and resources for young victims of abuse in Union County.

All proceeds from the race will directly benefit the Child Advocacy Center of Union County.

Participants can register online by clicking HERE until October 17, 2024, for $35, which includes a commemorative t-shirt.

Race On-site registration will also be available on the morning of the race starting at 8:00 a.m., with payment options including cash, check, or Venmo.

The event will reward the top three finishers in the 5k with Visa gift cards—$250 for first place, $150 for second, and $100 for third.

Union County Commissioner Chairwoman Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded emphasized the importance of the event, saying, “The Race 4 The Children represents our community coming together for a cause that truly matters—the safety, healing, and protection of our children.

By supporting the Child Advocacy Center of Union County, we are making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young victims, ensuring they receive the care and resources they deserve.

I encourage everyone to participate, whether running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines—your support can change a child’s life.”

Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage expressed pride in the city’s role as a co-sponsor, noting, “As Mayor of the City of Elizabeth, we are proud to sponsor and support The Friends of the Child Advocacy Center of Union County in their 7th Annual 5k Race. This event brings our community together for an important cause—helping protect and support the most vulnerable among us. By raising funds for the Child Advocacy Center, we are ensuring that every child gets the care they deserve.”

The Child Advocacy Center of Union County provides comprehensive services, including investigations, psychological and medical care, and mental health support, to young victims of physical and sexual abuse.

The funds raised during this event will help cover expenses for mental health evaluations and treatment, supporting children who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other challenges following trauma.AdThis year's event honors the memory of the late Union County Prosecutor Andrew K. Ruotolo Jr. and is sponsored by The Friends of the Child Advocacy Center of Union County, The Union County Board of County Commissioners, and the City of Elizabeth.
