Authorities are investigating the death of a woman found inside a home in Newark’s North Ward on Tuesday evening.
The incident prompted a response from Newark police following a request for a wellness check.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé reported that around 5:12 p.m., officers arrived at a residence on the 300 block of 7th Avenue.
Inside, they discovered an unresponsive woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Director Fragé noted that while there are currently no indications of foul play, the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain under active investigation.
Further details about the cause of death have not yet been released as authorities continue their inquiry.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office has not announced involvement in the case at this time.
