The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert concerning a potential allergen risk in mislabeled chicken salad products.
Packages labeled as "Cranberry Chicken Salad" may actually contain "Classic Chicken Salad," which includes wheat—a known allergen not listed on the product label.
This alert aims to inform consumers with wheat allergies to avoid consuming the affected product.
A formal recall has not been issued, as the product is no longer available for purchase.
The mislabeled items were produced on September 30, 2024, and include 12-ounce clear plastic packages marked as “Cranberry Chicken Salad with white meat chicken,” featuring a use-by date of October 25, 2024.
These packages carry the establishment number “P-7573” and were distributed to retail locations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and New York.
The issue came to light following a customer complaint to the establishment, reporting that packages labeled as Cranberry Chicken Salad contained Classic Chicken Salad instead.
So far, no adverse reactions linked to this issue have been reported.
