A suspicious vehicle discovered at the American Dream mall prompted New Jersey State Officials to evacuate the premises Tuesday evening. State Police officials said at approximately 5:31 p.m., American Dream security observed a Tesla parked legally on the ground level of the C parking deck with its driver's side door left open and unattended.
As part of their standard protective measures, two American Dream K-9 units conducted initial sweeps of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive alert. In response,
American Dream management took precautions and evacuated the mall.
Following the evacuation, a Bergen County K-9 and a New Jersey State Police (NJSP) K-9 unit performed further sweeps, which also returned positive alerts.
The New Jersey State Police Bomb Unit and the Bergen County Bomb Unit subsequently responded to the scene.
After a thorough investigation, officials cleared the vehicle, finding no indication of any dangerous devices.
After confirming the area was safe, American Dream reopened to all employees and visitors. No additional information has been provided at this time.
