Chilly Morning in North Jersey as Hurricane Milton Eyes Florida with Deadly Winds, Storm Surge

The Newark and North Jersey region is waking up to a chilly 56 degrees and below 50's in parts of Sussex and Passaic counties under mostly clear skies this morning.

While the day is expected to be cool, it will still be pleasant, with a high near 73 degrees and sunny skies forecasted by the National Weather Service.AdHowever, all eyes are on Hurricane Milton as it approaches Florida with dangerous winds.

The storm, initially a Category 5, has been downgraded to a Category 4 within the last 12 hours, but it remains monstrous, with maximum sustained winds of 175 mph.

The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to make landfall late Wednesday into Thursday.

Florida officials are urging residents in affected areas to evacuate immediately, warning of life-threatening conditions as the storm approaches.AdIn New Jersey, tonight will bring a slight chance of showers after 11 p.m., with mostly cloudy skies and a low of around 52 degrees.
