Newark Police Seek Three Suspects in Violent Robbery Attack

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé and the Newark Police Department are searching for three male suspects in connection with a violent robbery that took place in the early hours of Saturday, September 28, 2024.NinosAround 2:45 a.m., the suspects approached a male victim in the 100 block of Van Buren Street.

According to authorities, the suspects violently assaulted the victim by throwing him to the ground and repeatedly punching and kicking him.

They then robbed him of his wallet, $300, and an iPhone 14 Pro. The suspects were last seen fleeing south on Van Buren Street toward Lafayette Street.

Police describe the suspects as follows: 

  • Suspect #1: In his mid-twenties, short in height with no facial hair. He was wearing a Pittsburgh Steelers baseball cap, blue pants, black shoes, and a short-sleeved shirt featuring a “Get To The Bag” logo.
  • Suspect #2: In his mid-to-late twenties, short in height, with a thin build and no facial hair. He was wearing a black jacket, blue basketball shorts, gray sneakers, and a dark-colored baseball cap.
  • Suspect #3: Short in height, with no facial hair, and dressed in a black Puma sweatsuit with white stripes on the sleeves and pant legs, along with black and white shoes.

Authorities are actively investigating the incident.
