Newark Police are investigating a violent shooting that left a man seriously injured early Saturday morning.
The victim was found near 612 Springfield Avenue and 14th Street around 2:06 a.m.
Gunfire erupted in the area of 650 Sout 13th Street.
According to preliminary reports, officers were alerted to shots fired in the area and arrived to find a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
The victim, who was conscious and alert, was transported to University Hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.
Police taped off the area on Springfield Avenue and collected evidence as they work to determine the motive behind the shooting.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
