Police officials in Newark are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the city’s West Ward on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, a ShotSpotter device was activated at approximately 9:32 p.m., alerting authorities to gunfire near 362 South Orange Avenue.
Upon arrival, police units canvassed the area and discovered several shell casings, prompting them to secure the scene.
South 11th Street, from South Orange Avenue to 14th Avenue, was taped off as officers conducted a thorough search for potential victims.
After an extensive search, Newark police reported that no injuries were found.
The suspect, who fled the scene, remains at large as authorities continue their investigation. The immediate area is no stranger to criminal activity and occasionally shootings.
