Newark and the North Jersey region are starting the first day of October with cool temperatures at 60 degrees and cloudy skies.
While the day begins dry, the National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of light precipitation throughout the day, though it won't be a washout.
Today's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 70 degrees and northeast winds at 8 to 10 mph.
Tonight, NWS forecasters say that the weather will be mostly cloudy with a low of around 59 degrees.
