A Long Branch woman has been charged with stealing more than $80,000 from her former employer by using a company-issued credit card for personal purchases, according to a statement released by Morris County officials.
Nadine Hurd, 37, faces second-degree Theft by Unlawful Taking charges after a joint investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Wall Township Police Department revealed a series of fraudulent transactions spanning over five years.
The investigation found that Hurd, while employed as a customer service and inventory manager at a Wall Township manufacturing company, used the company’s business credit card to buy personal items.
Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced the charges on Monday, stating that Hurd’s unauthorized purchases involved more than 50 different retailers.
The items she is alleged to have bought included clothing, jewelry, patio furniture, garden supplies, and even a complete kitchen remodel for her home, including new appliances.
The thefts, which occurred between 2018 and 2023, were uncovered through a thorough review of financial records by investigators. Hurd turned herself in to authorities on Friday, September 27, and has been released on a summons pending further court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court.
The case is expected to proceed through the legal system, where Hurd will face potential penalties if convicted.
