‘We are dedicated to giving back to the community with annual back-to-school drives, scholarships, sponsorships and providing basic necessities to the less fortunate population’ -Barbosa’s Family
His family shared with RLS Media that his devotion to the community’s youth was central to his life’s work.
The annual drive aims to honor his legacy by ensuring that local students start the school year equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
With the support of community partners such as EmpireCLS of Secaucus, New Mad Corporation of Newark, and many friends, family members, and colleagues, the Foundation was able to double the number of book bags distributed from last year’s 166 to an impressive 350.
The Honorable Newark Councilman Michael Silva was also instrumental in this year’s success, helping to make the drive a significant event for the neighborhood.
Each student received a book bag filled with essential school supplies, including notebooks, pens, pencils, and folders, providing them with the confidence and resources needed to excel academically.
The Foundation’s goal is to empower students and alleviate the burden on families as they prepare for the new school year.
Officer Barbosa was celebrated for his efforts in creating a nurturing and secure environment for students. His amazing family has pledged to work tirelessly to continue his legacy of service to others through acts of kindness. The Foundation, through its ongoing initiatives, is dedicated to continuing his mission of fostering community spirit and supporting the educational journey of Newark’s youth.
