Authorities in Newark request the public’s help in locating the vehicle in connection with a robbery that occurred on Monday, September 16.
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said at approximately 10:15 p.m., police responded to the 800 block of South 16th Street on a call of a robbery.Officials stated that a victim exited her vehicle after parking and was approached by a dark-colored, 4-door Honda HR-V sedan with a sunroof and dull metallic rims.
A male passenger exited the car, brandished a handgun, and demanded the victim’s belongings, including her car keys, officials say.
According to officials, the suspect vehicle's driver remained in the car, which fled after the robbery, heading northbound on South 16th Street towards Avon Avenue.
The victim’s car has not been taken, authorities say.
Officials said detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect with the weapon as a light-skinned African-American, approximately 5’7” tall, with a medium build.
He was wearing all-black clothing and a ski mask, according to officials. Director Fragé urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of this suspect vehicle or the identity of either of these robbery suspects to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
