Police in Union Township are searching for suspects involved in a violent home invasion robbery that occurred on Friday morning.
Around 7:34 a.m., a 9-1-1 call was made from a resident on Scott Court, reporting that three to four men entered their home, assaulted both the husband and wife, and then stole the wife’s purse along with their 2022 Audi SQ8.According to Union Police, the suspects arrived in a stolen BMW, taken earlier from Livingston, and left the scene in both the victim’s Audi and the stolen BMW.
Detectives were nearby when the incident was reported, but the suspects managed to flee before officers arrived.
Authorities later discovered the stolen BMW ablaze in Newark but are still searching for the missing Audi.
Investigations indicate that the suspects were active throughout the night, committing crimes across Morris, Somerset, and Union Counties.
The elderly couple was transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit for examination due to a bloody nose and other minor injuries.
Police said thankfully no severe injuries were reported.In response to the incident, Union Police have increased patrols during peak hours to prevent further crimes of this nature.
The department is urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
