The City of Paterson will honor Mexico's Independence Day with a special flag-raising ceremony at City Hall, led by The Honorable Mayor André Sayegh and other city and community leaders.The event, set for today, Sunday, September 15, will commemorate the 214th anniversary of Mexico’s fight for independence, which began on September 16, 1810.
The Mexican Flag Raising Ceremony is not only a reflection of the pride and historical significance of this day for Mexicans worldwide but also a celebration of the vibrant Mexican community in Paterson.
The city’s “Mexico Boulevard” is a cultural hub and daily reminder of the community’s strong presence and contributions to local life.
As part of the broader Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations, the event highlights Mexican culture and its values of freedom and unity, underscoring the importance of cultural diversity in Paterson.
