Suspect in Custody After Orange Park Shooting Leaves Two Injured

One person has been taken into custody following a police pursuit that began after a shooting in a park in Orange, NJ, on Thursday night.

Gunfire erupted near the intersection of Valley Street and Metcalf Park around 8:35 p.m., prompting a significant police response.AdPreliminary information indicated that upon arrival, officers secured the scene and discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims were transported to University Hospital for treatment, though the extent of their injuries has not been confirmed.

During their investigation, police identified a vehicle matching the description of the suspects involved in the shooting.

A brief pursuit ensued, ending in the area of Crane Street, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle, which had flat tires and other damage.

Authorities apprehended one suspect at the scene, while at least one other person is believed to be at large. A weapon was recovered during the arrest.AdThe investigation is ongoing, and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office has not yet announced its involvement in the case.
