Authorities in Newark are actively searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in the city’s West Ward earlier today.
According to Newark’s Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, police received a report of shots fired around 1:23 p.m. on the 300 block of South 20th Street.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was immediately transported to University Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation as police continue to search for the suspect responsible.
