Street Closures Announced for Newark’s Brazilian Festival: What You Need to Know

Newark Police officials have announced street closures in preparation for the City of Newark’s Brazilian Festival, which will take place from Friday, August 30th to Monday, September 1st.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé, the following streets will be closed from 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, until 11 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2024:

- Niagara Street between Ferry Street and Hensler Street

- Chambers Street between Ferry Street and Clover Street

In addition to the street closures, specific regulations will be enforced within the festival area:

- Bicycles, scooters, e-scooters, and similar devices are prohibited.

- Backpacks, large and small bags, coolers, and carriages may be subject to search.

- Alcohol is not permitted at the event.

Drivers in the area are advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes to avoid the closed streets.

Director Fragé expressed his gratitude in advance for the public's patience and cooperation during the event.
