Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a fatal crash is under investigation in the City of Perth Amboy.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on August 23, at approximately 5:55 p.m., authorities received a 911 call reporting a serious crash in the area of Kamm Road and Convery Boulevard involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles.
Upon their arrival, officials said, authorities located Michael Fernandez, 25, of Perth Amboy, who sustained serious injuries.
According to officials, Fernandez was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that one of the other two vehicles, a sedan, struck the motorcycle; it was only occupied by one person, who sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he was treated and released the same day, authorities say.
Officials said the other vehicle that was struck by the sedan had three occupants, all of whom were transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center, where they were treated and released the same day.
Authorities say that an initial investigation led by Detective Kyle Savoia of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that the motorcycle operated by Fernandez was attempting to turn onto Convery Boulevard when the sedan struck it.
The sedan then crashed into the other vehicle, officials say.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, according to officials.
