Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi reported that an investigation is underway following a fatal shooting in Paterson early Wednesday morning.
At approximately 1:37 a.m. on August 21, 2024, officers responded to the area of Madison Avenue and 14th Avenue after receiving an alert from ShotSpotter, the city’s gunshot detection system.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 39-year-old Paterson resident lying face down with a gunshot wound.
Despite officers' efforts to provide aid, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have yet to release further details as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
