Newark residents and the surrounding North Jersey area are waking up to a brisk Wednesday morning, with temperatures dipping into the upper 50s.According to the National Weather Service, the thermometer in Newark read 59 degrees under clear skies at 4:30 a.m.
Though the morning may require a jacket, the afternoon is more forgiving. Forecasts predict mostly sunny skies with a high near 74 degrees.
Winds from the northwest at 6 to 11 mph will add a slight chill, making for a brisk but pleasant day.
Cloud cover will increase as the day progresses, leading to a mostly cloudy evening. However, NWS forecasters say clouds are expected to clear gradually, setting the stage for a cooler night with lows around 56 degrees.
While most of the region will remain dry, forecasters have not completely dismissed the possibility of a spotty shower in western New Jersey. Any rainfall is expected to be minor and not cause for concern.
Residents are advised to dress warmly. The chill of the morning will give way to milder temperatures, allowing for lighter attire as the day progresses.
Enjoy a beautiful day ahead, New Jersey!
