Newark authorities are requesting the community's assistance in locating Andre Thompson, 53, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a robbery that took place on August 11, 2024.
According to Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé, the incident occurred at approximately 11:06 p.m. when a woman was sitting on the porch of her home on Houston Street.
The suspect arrived in a silver minivan, possibly a Honda Odyssey, and exited the vehicle armed with a weapon.
He approached the porch, assaulted the victim by punching her in the face, and stole her purse, which contained $200 and several bank cards.
After the robbery, the suspect fled the scene, driving northbound on Houston Street toward New York Avenue.
Director Frage said he was described as wearing a black ski mask, a hoodie, and pants. The minivan was noted to have tinted rear windows and dark-colored rims.
Andre Thompson, identified as the driver, is described as a dark-skinned Black male, 5’9” in height, with a medium build, bald head, and a goatee.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on Thompson’s whereabouts to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
