FEDS: Crips Gang Member Admits Role in Essex County Drug Distribution Conspiracy

On Thursday, a member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang admitted his involvement in a racketeering conspiracy and drug distribution, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Kareem Green, also known as "Try Me," 32, appeared before U.S. District Judge Susan D. Wigenton in Newark federal court, where he pleaded guilty to charges related to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) conspiracy and a separate indictment for distributing cocaine.

According to court documents and statements made during the hearing, Green was an active member of the Rollin’ 60s Neighborhood Crips gang from 2015 until September 2022.

The gang engaged in various criminal activities, including acts of violence and drug trafficking in New Jersey and beyond.

Federal officials said on April 5 and April 11, 2021, Green and other gang members were involved in two separate shootings targeting victims.

Additionally, on March 5, 2021, Green collaborated with another gang member to distribute cocaine.

The racketeering conspiracy charge carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, while the drug distribution charge could result in a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million.Ad

Sentencing for Green is scheduled for December 18, 2024.
