The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Teaneck Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting that took place on Hickory Street in Teaneck, this morning.
At approximately 8:25 a.m., law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at a private residence.
Upon arrival, authorities discovered that a 26-year-old woman had been shot.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Teaneck Police Department, officers from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department, and additional support from the Bogota Police Department were all on the scene conducting an investigation.
According to officials, there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Further details, including the victim’s identity, will be released following notifications to the next of kin as the investigation progresses.
The investigation is being led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Andrew McGurr.
